Former Hungarian Prime Minister Orban could be offered a job at the UN
As reported by the investigative project Vsquare, the US is considering the possibility of appointing former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to a high position in the United Nations, which could provide him with diplomatic immunity and protection from prosecution at home, writes "European Pravda".

It is alleged that this idea is being discussed in the circles of the MAGA-wing of the US Republican Party. Vsquare reports this with reference to foreign and Hungarian sources.
According to the 1946 UN Convention, the Secretary-General of the organization, his deputies, and assistants enjoy full diplomatic immunity. This immunity effectively protects them from any legal prosecution, including criminal, and also extends to family members.
Heads of specialized UN agencies also have immunity, but in a more limited form — only with respect to actions related to the performance of official duties.
In addition to possible support from the US, Orban can also count on Argentine President Javier Milei in this matter. His position is important in the context of the struggle for the post of the next UN Secretary-General, where Argentinian Rafael Grossi, who is close to Milei and currently heads the IAEA, is considered one of the favorites.
A position at the UN would also give Orban the opportunity to work in New York. According to information, he plans a trip to the US this summer for the World Cup, and his daughter and son-in-law have already been living in the country for about a year. In case of a worsening political situation in Budapest, he could stay in the US for a longer period for work without applying for political asylum.
Orban himself, in response to journalists' questions on this matter, stated that he is not afraid of possible legal proceedings and claims that he has always acted within the law.
Earlier, current Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that oligarchs associated with Orban are siphoning significant funds abroad and may be preparing to flee. There were also suggestions that Orban is preemptively seeking an opportunity to obtain asylum in the US in case of a threat of criminal prosecution.
