The number of fish previously listed in the Red Book is increasing in Pripyat
An increase in the population of the common nase — a fish that was listed in the Red Book of Belarus until 2014 — is observed in the Pripyat River, writes the Fishingby.com portal.

According to fishermen, while the nase was very rarely caught in Pripyat before, now anglers are catching it more and more often. Although it is too early to talk about mass fishing, given favorable conditions, this fish can now be targeted. Sometimes quite large specimens are caught.
Specialists note that after spawning, nase stay in small groups. Because of this, it may seem that there are few of them, although in reality the population is much larger.
The nase is caught with the same baits as other carp fish. It is distinguished by a sharp bite and puts up strong resistance when reeled in.
The increase in the number of nase in Pripyat is considered a good indicator of the state of the river ecosystem. If the current trend continues, this species may finally become one of the common inhabitants of Pripyat.
