Artificial Intelligence Wrote Music for Karatkevich Play at Kupalaŭski Theater
On the evening of June 30, the Kupalaŭski Theater will host the premiere of the play "The Olshany Castle," based on the famous novel by Uładzimir Karatkievič. An unexpected feature of the production is that, for the first time in Belarusian theater history, artificial intelligence served as the author of its musical score, writes "SB".

As the publication reports, the play's director David Razumaŭ personally created prompts (requests) for the neural network and then independently processed the suggested options.
This is the first known instance of AI being used instead of a living composer's work in Belarusian theaters. Why the theater decided to forgo the services of human composers is not explained.
The premiere takes place against a backdrop of significant personnel changes at the theater: in March 2026, Dźmitry Akimaŭ, a Russian from provincial theaters, became the new artistic director of the Kupalaŭski Theater.
In the summer of 2020, the majority of the renowned acting troupe resigned in protest against the violence of law enforcement and election falsification. The theater's management spent several years recruiting a new cast, including inviting artists from Russia.
