Last week, it was revealed that 32 people were included in the amnesty by July 3rd — 28 of whom had been convicted under 'extremist articles'. According to 'Viasna', at least some of the pardoned political prisoners are individuals who were serving their sentences under 'home chemistry'.

Moreover, it is claimed that for most of the pardoned 'home chemists', their assigned term of restriction of liberty was already nearing its end.
Usually, before state holidays (July 3rd, September 17th, November 7th, March 15th), two to three dozen people convicted under political articles are released by pardon. Often, these are individuals serving 'home chemistry' sentences, and therefore are not included in the list of political prisoners.
