The funeral of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed three and a half months ago on the first day of the Israeli-American air campaign, has concluded in the Iranian city of Mashhad.
Ceremonies bidding farewell to Ayatollah Khamenei lasted six days and took place in several cities in Iran and neighboring Iraq. The body of the supreme leader was delivered to Mashhad by helicopter on Thursday morning.
On the last day, huge crowds again filled the main streets, this time — the streets of Mashhad, Iran's holiest city and the birthplace of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, streets leading to the golden dome of Imam Reza's mausoleum, writes the BBC.
Thousands of supporters of the Islamic regime carried photographs of Khamenei, Iranian flags, and posters with calls to kill Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried in one of the main shrines of Shia Muslims — in the mausoleum of Imam Reza.
