"A freeze is impossible until Russia achieves its goals." The Kremlin responded to Tokayev's proposal
On July 25, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev publicly proposed to Putin to freeze the war with Ukraine and stated that "the nature of this conflict is not entirely clear." Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov responded to this proposal by the Kazakh leader.

"The 'freeze' of the conflict in Ukraine proposed by Tokayev is impossible given Kyiv's position. The main condition for Russia is to achieve its goals. Everything can stop today by the end of the day if the Kyiv regime makes appropriate decisions," said Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, Tokayev has repeatedly spoken on the Ukrainian issue before, and his position is consistent. But Russia disagrees with it and believes that the President of Kazakhstan is simply not sufficiently informed.
"This means we haven't explained the root causes enough. We will continue to do so with renewed energy. Our partners must know our position," said Putin's press secretary.
