Book by Ihar Karniej «Incomunicado. Torture by Solitude» Coming Soon
The book is expected to be released next week.
«Our journey with Ihar Karniej, which began a year ago, is entering a new phase — Ihar's book «Incomunicado. Torture by Solitude» will be released as early as August 20. Today we launched a pre-order with a promotional price; after August 20, the price of the book will be higher. All details — via the link. But admit it, you already know that the book turned out great, and — most importantly — it is significant and timely. What happens to a person when they are deprived not only of freedom but also of the opportunity to see others, to speak with them, to feel that someone is nearby? How does a system work that turns solitude into a form of torture?» — wrote Tatsiana Niadbaj, head of Belarusian PEN, on her Facebook page.
Former Radio Svaboda journalist Ihar Karniej was detained in the summer of 2023 and sentenced to three years in prison. On June 21, 2025, he was released among 14 political prisoners. He now lives with his wife and daughter in the Azores, Portugal.
