Talks between US and Ukrainian representatives in Florida on a peaceful settlement of the war have been interrupted. This was reported by "Radio Svaboda" correspondent Alex Raufoglu, citing sources, writes The Moscow Times.

According to one of the interlocutors, there will be no second day of negotiations. Meetings between the Ukrainian delegation and US presidential special representatives Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner were originally planned for October 9 and 10.
The talks stalled after Donald Trump's statement about an agreement with the Kremlin regarding Russian diesel fuel supplies to the US and the global market. According to Axios sources, this agreement was the result of Kyiv's refusal to stop striking Russian oil refineries.
On Saturday night, despite the talks between the US and Ukraine, Russian forces launched strikes on Ukrainian cities. In Zaporizhzhia, at least 15 people died and 14 more were injured. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia thus "thanked for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports," and promised to respond to the attacks.
According to Axios, during Friday's meeting, Whitkoff and Kushner particularly focused on coordinating security guarantees for Ukraine from the US, Europe, and NATO within a possible peace agreement. New proposals regarding territorial settlement were also discussed, but their details were not disclosed.
Whitkoff himself described the Miami talks as constructive. According to him, participants discussed possible ways to de-escalate and end the war before winter, as well as conditions for achieving long-term peace. Other topics included energy resilience and grain exports, which had been paralyzed by attacks on ships and ports in the Black Sea.
Whitkoff stated that the exchange of views was productive and helped identify directions for further analysis before the next US contacts with Russia.
According to an Axios source, American representatives may visit Moscow and Kyiv next week to discuss peace proposals. One American official stated that, despite the heavy strikes on Ukraine, the US believes Putin is open to discussing an end to the war. According to him, Washington wants to develop a new proposal that would be acceptable enough to persuade the Russian president to cease hostilities.
The American side also presented a package of assistance to Ukraine. It includes possible mechanisms for financing the country's post-war reconstruction and the restoration of the Ukrainian army, as well as ways to overcome the state budget deficit. In addition, a plan for Ukraine's accession to the European Union and possible formats for its relations with NATO after the end of the war were discussed.
