Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder arrived in Moscow on Vladimir Putin's birthday
On Vladimir Putin's birthday, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder went to Moscow for a business meeting as the new chairman of the supervisory board of the German supermarket chain "Globus". And, possibly, for a meeting with his long-time friend Putin, BILD writes .

The German retail group "Globus" operates dozens of hypermarkets and hardware stores in Russia. Many Western companies left the country after the start of the war, but "Globus" continued to operate. Schröder, who joined the company's supervisory board in early September, delivered a welcome speech to employees in Moscow, TASS reported. He was also given a tour of one of the stores.
It is unknown whether Schröder participated in Putin's birthday celebration. For many years, he has been considered the Kremlin dictator's closest German confidant.
Schröder maintained his friendship with Putin and business ties with Russia even after the attack on Ukraine, for which he faces sharp criticism in Germany, including from within his own party — the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
