The tragedy happened in Polotsk.
The incident occurred in the presence of the deceased's cohabitant. The man reported that while eating, the woman suddenly began to choke and lost consciousness, according to the State Forensic Examination Committee.
He tried to help her on his own and called an ambulance. Despite the resuscitation efforts, it was not possible to save the woman — death was pronounced.
The examination established that death occurred due to mechanical asphyxia as a result of an orange slice obstructing the respiratory tract.
