Ukraine Imposes Sanctions Against Creators of "Masha and the Bear"
The cartoon disseminates pro-Russian narratives.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on imposing sanctions against the authors and distributors of the animated series "Masha and the Bear".
A statement on the website of the President of Ukraine says that the animated series "disseminates pro-Russian narratives disguised as children's content, which poses a threat to the national security of Ukraine."
Sanctions have been imposed against the Animaccord studio and five individuals, including the founder of the studio, the scriptwriter, and the owner of the rights to the animated series.
In July, British MPs called for the cartoon to be banned, considering it Russian "soft power."
