A general who was awarded Hero of Russia just half a month ago has died. This is the 17th Russian general killed. Ukraine has not lost a single one.
Reports have emerged about the death of Russian Major General Anton Grunis, who commanded the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade of Russia's 2nd Army Corps.

This information is confirmed by, among others, Russian pro-war sources. Even before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Grunis participated in aggression against Ukraine, including the occupation of Crimea in 2014.
Anton Grunis was born on October 5, 1979. He received his military education at the Kazan Suvorov Military School and the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School.
In 2014, Grunis participated in the occupation of Ukrainian Crimea. Later he served in the 18th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, where he commanded a motorized rifle battalion.
After this, Grunis became the commander of the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps. On May 6, 2024, Russian propaganda resources reported his promotion to the rank of Major General.
In August 2026, Grunis was also mentioned in connection with being awarded the title "Hero of Russia". According to these reports, he received the award on August 29, allegedly for participating in the capture of Ukrainian Kostiantynivka.
This is the 17th Russian general who has died in the imperialist war. Ukraine has not lost a single general.
