New or used? How much do used Geely and Belgee cars cost and how much have they depreciated?
Over the past few years, Belarusian-made cars, produced under the Geely and Belgee brands, have occupied more than 50% of the new car market. We looked at what the secondary market for domestically assembled cars represents.
Belgee S50
The Belgee S50 sedan is sold new at prices starting from 58,200 rubles (about $19,250) for the base version with a manual gearbox.
Used Geely Emgrand (the Belgee S50 was called this before rebranding) with a manual gearbox, manufactured between 2022 and 2024, which haven't been used in taxis, are asking from 33,000 to 45,000 rubles (about $10,900–$14,900).
The Belgee S50 with an automatic gearbox is sold new at prices starting from 62,400 rubles (about $20,650) in the Comfort+ trim and from 67,800 rubles (about $22,400) in the Flagship Plus trim.
For 2025 cars with an automatic gearbox, depending on mileage and trim, prices range from 45,000 to 55,000 rubles (about $14,900–$18,200).
Among the sales listings, there are many cars where the previous owner has already applied additional anti-corrosion treatment or glued protective film to protect the paintwork from damage.
The cheapest cars, naturally, are those that have been used as taxis. For a car with mileage nearing 400,000 kilometers, they are asking 22,700 rubles (about $7,500), and this is the cheapest option if you don't consider cars damaged in accidents. The car was manufactured in 2023 and has methane gas equipment.
The photo shows signs of corrosion on the sills, peeling paint, and dents — typical "features" of cars that have worked long in taxis.
Another 2023 Emgrand on methane, which is used as a taxi and has a mileage of about 370,000 kilometers, is being sold for 31,700 rubles (about $10,500).
Overall, among used Emgrand and S50 models, many cars that were used as taxis are being sold. Most of them have a claimed mileage of about 200,000 kilometers.
It is not precisely known how well such cars are in demand on the secondary market. But overall, the S50 receives quite good feedback from owners. As a budget car, the S50, one could say, has few competitors in the Belarusian market, because after the withdrawal of global car manufacturers from Russia, previously popular Russian-assembled VW Polo, Skoda Rapid, and Renault cars disappeared from sale in Belarus.
The main advice for Geely/Belgee owners is to apply additional anti-corrosion treatment. This is a must-have, otherwise rust starts to appear quite quickly on the car's underbody and in hidden cavities.
Belgee X50 — a true bestseller
The most popular new car sold in Belarus is the compact crossover Belgee X50, which was called Geely Coolray before rebranding.
The new Belgee X50+ (restyled version of X50) is sold at prices starting from 61,900 rubles ($20,600) for the car in Comfort trim, from 64,900 rubles ($21,600) in Luxury trim, and from 71,900 rubles ($23,950) in Flagship trim.
For used Belgee X50 models from 2023, prices start from 45,500 rubles (about $15,150).
This is how much they are asking for a car with mileage close to 100,000 kilometers. The description states that the car is covered with protective film and is being sold by the first owner, who bought it new from a dealer and subsequently serviced it there.
Geely Coolray models from 2020–2021 are sold at prices starting from 40,000 rubles (about $13,500).
How high the demand is for six-year-old Coolray cars with mileage around 100,000–150,000 kilometers at prices starting from 40,000 rubles, when new and already restyled ones cost from 58,000, is a complex question. Especially since new cars can be purchased using preferential lending.
On the other hand, relatively high prices for used cars are a good sign for those who are going to buy such a car, including a new one. Because it seems that Geely and Belgee in Belarus are not repeating the history of many Chinese cars that lost half their value in the first two to three years.
In total, about 300 used Coolray and X50 models are currently for sale in Belarus — in roughly equal proportions.
Atlas
Another bestseller from the past, the Geely Atlas, costs from 33,000 rubles ($11,000). This is what they are asking for cars from 2017–2019 with mileage around 200,000 kilometers.
As for the overall numbers, almost 2,000 ads for the sale of Geely and Belgee are posted on av.by. Naturally, not all of them are assembled in Belarus, as some models are imported directly from China. But in any case, these figures indicate that Geely/Belgee have truly become popular cars.
