U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded the FIFA "Peace Prize." The award was personally presented to him by the head of the organization, Gianni Infantino, during the draw for the World Cup, which will be held next year in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

FIFA said in a statement that Trump allegedly supported efforts to mediate a ceasefire and promoted diplomatic engagement.
Commenting on receiving the award, Trump himself said that he was not interested in awards: «I don't need awards. I need to save lives.»
According to the FIFA website, the Peace Prize is awarded to «people who perform exceptional and extraordinary actions in the name of peace and thereby unite people around the world.» Trump became its first laureate.
Upon receiving the award, the US President reiterated that his administration's efforts had already stopped «eight wars» around the world. The ceremony mentioned Trump's merits in achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as his administration's attempts to end the war in Ukraine.
The decision to establish the award was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in November 2025 without prior approval from the organization's Council. This move has drawn criticism from experts and human rights activists, as many of them believe the award was created specifically for Trump.
