Following threats from her country's authoritarian leadership, this year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela, will not participate in the award ceremony in Oslo.

This was reported by Kristian Berg Harpviken, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, to the NRK radio station.
The Nobel Prize awards will take place this week in Stockholm and Oslo. The announcement of the laureates usually occurs in the second week of October.
