Wife of 89-year-old pensioner chased away fraudsters' couriers, but the man still found a way to hand over his savings to them
In Minsk, an 89-year-old pensioner became a victim of fraudsters. The unusual aspect of the situation is that to do so, he had to overcome resistance from his own wife.

First, the criminals called the man and, through deception, extracted his personal data. Later, they contacted him again, scared him with "criminal liability" for talking to alleged criminals, and insisted that the elderly man must "declare" his money, otherwise it would be seized during a search.
The trusting pensioner was about to hand over about 25 thousand rubles, but his wife realized in time that it was a scam and chased away the courier who had come for the money.
However, the man himself continued to believe the fraudsters: on their instruction, he went to a shopping center and left a wallet with money in an unlocked locker in a storage room. Only a few days later did he realize he had been scammed.
Operatives identified and detained the courier who picked up the money from the locker. It turned out that he was a 39-year-old resident of Kalinkavichy who had himself fallen under the influence of the fraudsters. Before this, he had already managed to collect money from other victims: about 10 thousand dollars from a resident of BarysaÅ, and money taken from two loans from a 46-year-old Minsk resident. All received funds he passed further down the chain.
Criminal cases have been initiated based on these facts, and the investigation is ongoing.
