Almost 20% of This Year's Car Imports Were Electric Vehicles and Hybrids
According to the Belarusian Automobile Association, almost a fifth of new cars imported into Belarus this year were electric vehicles and hybrids. In 11 months, over 150,000 new cars arrived in the country, of which 27,600 (about 18.4%) were New Energy Vehicles (NEV).

Dmitry Yarota, director of UE "BAA-Consult", notes that the NEV market in Belarus in 2025 has several distinctive features.
Firstly, it is almost entirely formed by imports — the share of imported vehicles is about 95%. Additionally, pure electric vehicles (BEV) prevail in the NEV segment: approximately 20,400 of them were imported, making up about 74% of all "green" cars.
The main part of electric vehicles was imported by legal entities — 14,400 cars (more than 70% of the total NEV volume). Individuals imported about 5,000 cars, and approximately another 1,000 accounted for local production.
The expert also emphasized that in 2025, legal entities most often used simplified certification when importing NEVs: according to this scheme, about 92% of pure electric vehicles were registered.
However, the situation may change as early as 2026. Council of Ministers Resolution No. 372, which introduces mandatory type approval for vehicles and restricts the import of electric vehicles under simplified rules, could significantly affect the volume of "green" car imports by legal entities.
