Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which decisions of foreign courts, vested with powers in criminal justice without Russia's participation, are no longer subject to enforcement in Russia, reports Radio Svoboda's Russian Service.

In addition, according to the document, decisions of international judicial bodies whose competence is not based on an international treaty or UN Security Council resolutions will not be enforced.
Vladimir Gruzdev, head of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, previously clarified that this law will apply, in particular, to the judgments of the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to lawyers, in addition to ICC decisions, a possible tribunal on Ukraine may also fall under these restrictions.
In March 2023, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Putin and Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova. They are accused of responsibility for the deportation of Ukrainian children to territories not controlled by Kyiv. Russia categorically denies accusations of child deportation.
On December 12, a Russian court sentenced in absentia the prosecutor and eight ICC judges to prison terms ranging from three and a half to 15 years on charges of bringing deliberately innocent individuals to criminal liability or unlawfully initiating criminal proceedings, unlawful detention, and preparing an attack on individuals enjoying international protection.
