Viachorka: Not the number that was announced, but I think this is not the end yet

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's chief advisor Franak Viachorka commented on the release of 25 Belarusian political prisoners today during a broadcast on "Radio Svaboda".

“John Cole, as usual, did an excellent job. Not the number that was announced, but, I think, this is not the end yet. John Cole himself explained that there are certain conditions from Minsk to release people. And in the coming days, weeks, more will become clear.”

Perhaps this is related to Lukashenka's conditions for unblocking financial resources and assets. It might be related to some sanctioned enterprises. It's clear that Lukashenka always wants to have the last word – to change lists, not to give what he promised.

“The American delegation traveled with certain expectations and agreements. This process will continue. We continue to be in contact with the Americans. They are doing this for us. They are freeing our people. The fact that this has become a priority for the American administration is thanks to human rights defenders, journalists, and democratic forces,” noted Franak Viachorka.
