The bird was found on the morning of January 13 by employees of the "Minskgrazhdanproekt" institute — it was a young owl lying in deep snow.
A veterinarian examined the bird and determined that it was in a very weak state, so it is currently receiving necessary care.

Ecologists noted that large snowdrifts after cyclone "Uli" prevent the owl from hunting mice and other small animals, which constitute its main diet. Several days of unsuccessful hunting and the presence of unusual "urban enemies" can quickly lead to fatigue and weakening of the bird.

The long-eared owl is one of the most widespread in Belarus. It nests not only in forests but also on the outskirts of settlements, although it is rarely found in large cities. Owls do not build their own nests, using abandoned nests of crows or magpies. In Minsk, nests of long-eared owls have been found in Loshytski Park and the 60th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution Park.
