Another six infants from the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital, where nine children died, are in intensive care
The chief doctor has been detained.
The situation surrounding the death of nine newborns in Novokuznetsk City Hospital №1 continues to worsen. As became known on January 14, another six children from the same institution are in the intensive care and resuscitation department of the children's hospital. The condition of the babies is assessed as serious but stable.
Today, the chief doctor of the hospital and the acting head of the neonatal intensive care unit were detained. The Investigative Committee suspects them of negligence and causing death by carelessness due to improper performance of professional duties.
A commission is working in Novokuznetsk. Specialists are studying medical histories and how assistance was organized for mothers and children. The exact causes of the children's deaths will be known in approximately two weeks.
Maternity hospital №1, where the incident occurred, is closed to new patients.
