At a movie screening in Minsk, viewers fought and started dousing each other with soda — what happened?
For viewers who came on January 17 to the Belarusian premiere of the film "The Roommate" at the Moon cinema in Dana Mall, the experience was ruined by a fight in the hall. During the screening, several girlfriends and a couple started fighting, swearing, and dousing each other with Sprite. Witnesses recounted why the conflict arose and how it ended.

The film "The Roommate" by Paul Feig, starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, is a psychological thriller about abusive relationships.
According to eyewitnesses, it all started with three Belarusian women continuously and loudly commenting on the film's content throughout the first half of the movie. In addition, the girls shouted obscenities. No one liked it, but the first to lose patience was a young man sitting in the row in front of them. To a polite and calm request to "be quieter," the guy was told to "f*** off."
After that, the girls swore at the neighbor opposite – who, in turn, did not hold back his own expressions. Soon it escalated into a fight, initiated by one of the trio.
In a video published on Threads by one of the users, it can be heard how the girls initially continue to send the guy and his girlfriend to hell, shouting over the film's soundtrack. In the second clip, one of them hits the young man on the head, to which his girlfriend responds by pouring a bottle of liquid over the group – according to witnesses, it was Sprite, which also splashed viewers sitting nearby.

A screenshot from the video shows one of the moments of the altercation.
At the end of the fight, the guy tries to push away the aggressors with his hands, and his partner helps him, fighting back with an empty bottle. Each side yelled for the other side to leave the hall. Ultimately, the guy and his partner left.
"The conflict ended with the group of girls setting up a meeting for the guy under Dana Mall. The couple left the hall, but the girls followed them, trying to continue the conflict. But the film is 10/10 – I recommend it to everyone!" wrote the Threads user.
Another witness noted that the loud group of girls, in her opinion, appeared to be drunk, which made such aggressive behavior possible.
Some Belarusians, however, asked a fair question: why didn't the administration and security extinguish the conflict? According to viewers of that screening, the administration was contacted immediately, but they decided not to intervene. One of the cinema representatives came into the hall only when the couple, who had tried to quiet the loud trio, was already leaving.
Some commentators were additionally outraged by the behavior of other people in the hall: "So, the guy was the only one who didn't tolerate it? Why didn't others support him, help him? They just sat there and giggled." The author of the video suggested that most were in a state of shock and didn't realize what was happening.
Active users are now asking the Belarusian police to bring the troublemakers to justice.
