On Tuesday, Belarus found itself in the area of cyclone Leoni, which brought wet snow and freezing rain. Bad weather, according to forecasts, will persist until Wednesday, January 28. Freezing rain is recorded in the airport area, however, this has not affected its operational rhythm.
To ensure flights, the runway, taxiways, and apron are constantly cleared of ice with simultaneous use of chemical reagents. More than 20 units of special equipment are involved in the work, which used about 50 tons of liquid and granular agents over the past day.
Aircraft are also treated with de-icing fluid. The airport noted that it has sufficient resources for safe take-off and landing operations even in difficult weather conditions and strictly adheres to safety and quality standards.
At the same time, passengers and those meeting them are advised to plan their trip to the airport in advance, taking into account the weather and road conditions.
