In Kyiv, Belarusian journalist Inna Kardash was arrested for espionage. They say she worked for the KGB since 2015
Ukrainian special services announced the arrest of a Belarusian journalist, with whom they had been playing an operational game for several months, supplying disinformation. And although the face of the detainee was not shown, «Nasha Niva» identified who was being referred to — it is Inna Kardash. As alleged, in Ukraine she was collecting information about volunteers.
«Within the framework of a joint, prolonged, and complex special operation by the internal security unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and SBU investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, a Belarusian KGB spy was exposed who tried to infiltrate one of the units of Ukrainian military intelligence.
The 35-year-old enemy agent was detained in Kyiv; she has been notified of suspicion of espionage.
During the special operation, which lasted several months, SBU officers and GUR internal security documented the criminal activity of the Belarusian spy and played an operational game with her — under the guise of secret information, they provided her with disinformation.
The agent worked for the Belarusian KGB since 2015. In 2020, she was sent for intelligence work to the territory of Ukraine. Journalistic activity served as her cover — after working for Medvedchuk's sanctioned channel '112', the spy got a job at one of Ukraine's leading media outlets.
Further, by order of her handler, under the guise of needing a medical examination, the woman traveled to one of the EU countries for additional instructions. From the Chekists (KGB agents), she received a task to collect information about Belarusians and Russians fighting against the aggressor state on the side of Ukraine.
The Belarusian spy was also supposed to establish contacts with employees of the PRC embassy in Kyiv to gather information about the activities of Chinese diplomats in Ukraine.
After collecting extensive evidence, the enemy agent was detained in Kyiv; her smartphone and voice recorder, which she used to collect classified information, were confiscated.
Currently, the spy is in custody. She faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property,» — states the GUR message published this morning. The post was soon deleted from the agency's channel.
Comparing the photos and biographical details, we are convinced that the person in question is Inna Kardash, a native of Minsk, born in 1991.
According to excerpts from the Beplol database, Kardash worked at 'United Company' and 'Maxbet' from 2012-2015. From 2015 to 2018, the FSAN databases show no entries, and in 2018-2019, she was an employee of 'Tutbymedia'.
After this, Kardash worked as a freelance journalist for many foreign media outlets, which sometimes sought local contributors.
Meanwhile, she was often accompanied by Vasily Syamashka as an operator, who went down in history as a provocateur, with whose help the KGB arrested Ukrainian diplomat Pavlo Sharoyko in 2018.
Since 2020, Kardash officially started working for the 'Ukraine' TV channel in Belarus. She was detained several times while covering protests. For example, after her detention on August 16, 2020, the following entry appeared in the 'Riots' database: 'Individual preventive measures applied or verbal warning issued'.
After 2020, Kardash left Belarus.
In Ukraine, she worked for the 112.ua TV channel, and later for the local 'Interfax'.
