One of Minsk's busiest transport arteries is Partizansky Avenue. Here, the interests of tens of thousands of motorists and public transport passengers converge. To make the exit from the capital (in the area of "Mahilyouskaya" metro station and "Moma" shopping center) more comfortable, urban planners have conceived a series of transformations. They want to build a bus station with a public-commercial complex and create a more friendly environment for pedestrians and cyclists. In addition, another factory will grow near the avenue. Discussions on the project will soon begin in the administration of Zavodski district, writes Realt.by.
The administration of Zavodski district of Minsk is holding a public discussion of the urban planning project for detailed planning of the public multifunctional development zone in the area of Partizansky Avenue and the Minsk Ring Road (MKAD). This concerns an area of 37 hectares.
The planned territory adjoins two major highways at once — Partizansky Avenue itself and the MKAD. This is a very busy section. Every day, up to 60 thousand cars enter the city through these "gates". In addition, the terminal station of the red metro line — "Mahilyouskaya" — is located here, used by residents of Anharskaya, Shabanova, Sosny, and the entire southeastern suburb of the capital.
At the same time, there are no residential buildings on the planned site itself; only the street and road network (it occupies 34%), public and industrial development are represented here. Among the large objects are "Moma" shopping center, "Zolak" Palace of Children and Youth, several administrative buildings, the Bethel Protestant church, two gas stations, and a car wash.
What is planned to be done?
To create a memorable architectural appearance of the development in the head part of Partizansky Avenue and to use the territory more effectively, the project proposes the following transformations.
Thus, on the site of the "Avtozavodskaya" bus station and part of the "Belarusneft" gas station, urban planners want to erect an administrative and commercial complex with a bus station and a park-and-ride car park (No. 11 on the plan).
It is noted that the new multifunctional public center is necessary for comfortable servicing of transit passenger traffic. Also, more friendly conditions for pedestrians and cyclists will be created here. Bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, which was lacking, will appear in the corridors of existing streets, and public transport stops and transport interchange hubs will be located no more than 200 meters from each other for the convenience of citizens.
In addition, the designers intend to make more effective use of empty territories in the area of Sotsialisticheskaya Street — next to the existing MAZ and MZKT factories. A plot will be reserved here for the construction of a new production enterprise with a basic sanitary protection zone of up to 50 meters (No. 10 on the plan). A new local street — Projected No. 1 — will also pass through here in the future.
Project materials have already been posted on the website of the Zavodski district administration. Public discussion of the project will take place from February 2 to February 16.
