The Kremlin stated that the meeting lasted about 3.5 hours. Witkoff's motorcade left the Kremlin.

Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov commented on the meeting that took place in the Kremlin between Vladimir Putin, US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
According to him, it was agreed at the meeting that the first session of the trilateral working group on security issues, involving representatives of Russia, the USA, and Ukraine, will take place on January 23 in Abu Dhabi.
Ushakov added that the Russian delegation has already been formed, received «specific instructions» from Putin, and will soon depart for Abu Dhabi.
It includes representatives of the Ministry of Defense leadership, led by GRU Chief Igor Kostyukov.
Additionally, a meeting between Witkoff and the head of the RDIF Kirill Dmitriev will take place in Abu Dhabi, as leaders of the bilateral working group on economic issues.
Ushakov called the negotiations held «useful in every sense».
At the same time, he stated that «Russia will consistently pursue the goals of the SMO until a settlement can be achieved through political and diplomatic means».
Also, according to the Russian presidential aide, Moscow reiterated at the meeting that «without resolving the territorial issue, it is impossible to count on a long-term settlement». According to him, the meeting also discussed Trump's initiative to create a «peace council», a number of regional issues, and the situation around Greenland.
«During the exchange of views regarding the 'peace council', our readiness to allocate $1 billion from Russian assets frozen by the previous US administration to the budget of this structure was emphasized,» Yuri Ushakov stated.
He added that «the remaining funds from Russian reserves frozen by the US could be directed to restoring territories affected during hostilities — after the conclusion of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine».
According to Ushakov, discussions on this topic will continue within the bilateral economic group, led by Witkoff and Dmitriev.
