Overall, the crime rate across the country reached a 10‑year low. Even cybercrime has been reduced. And with the help of the video surveillance system, 10 times more wanted persons were detained than in the previous year.
According to the results of 2025, the level of criminalization of society in Belarus decreased. As reported by the newspaper «Na Strazhe» (On Guard), the crime rate in the country was 700 cases per 100 thousand population. This is the lowest figure in the last 10 years.
Among the regions, the lowest crime rate per 100 thousand people is observed in the Brest region — 585 cases. In the capital, however, this figure was the highest — 775 cases.
In absolute terms, the total number of registered criminal acts decreased by almost 10 thousand over the year, which directly affected the reduction in the number of affected citizens.
According to police statistics, the number of crimes in the criminal investigation department decreased by more than a fifth (-21.6%). The clearance rate increased to 84.2%, and for the most serious crimes (murders, severe injuries, and robberies), it reached 100%.
At the same time, the number of murders decreased from 175 to 155 compared to the previous year, and rapes — from 84 to 69 cases.
Positive dynamics are also observed in the sphere of property protection: the number of thefts (including personal transport) decreased by almost 20%, and the effectiveness of detecting criminals in this area increased to 75.2%.
An important factor is the further implementation of technologies. The republican monitoring system, which includes over 65 thousand video surveillance cameras, allowed for the detection of over 4 thousand crimes, which is double the figure of the previous year.
With the help of this system, about 7.5 thousand wanted persons were detained (around 700 in 2024), and over 44 thousand administrative offenses were recorded (7.4 thousand in 2024).
It is reported that in 2025, cybercrime was also reduced (— 5.8%), which accounts for about 30% of all registered criminal acts.
