Over the past year 2025, Belarusian surgeons performed the highest number of transplantations in history, saving over half a thousand lives. Oleg Rummo, head of the specialized scientific and practical center, summarized the year's results and spoke about future plans.

The past year 2025 was the most successful in the history of Belarusian transplantology, reported Oleg Rummo, head of the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology, and Hematology. Over the year, medical professionals performed a record number of organ transplants — a total of 531 operations, including 361 kidney transplants, 110 liver transplants, and 53 heart transplants.
In addition, the center implemented unique methods of cellular therapy for patients for whom standard post-transplant treatment is not suitable. Also, the country's only tissue and vascular bank has started operations, supporting complex surgeries nationwide.
Already in February 2026, a modern surgical robot, acquired with the institution's own funds, will begin operating at the center. Specialists have already undergone training in China to use the complex in oncology. The robot will open new opportunities in oncourology and oncosurgery.
Construction of a new modern admission department is planned to begin in spring.
