More than 60 thousand residents of Transnistria applied for Russian citizenship
Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified admission to Russian citizenship for residents of Transnistria in mid-May.

Over the past three months, residents of unrecognized Transnistria have submitted more than 60 thousand applications for Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure. This was told to Izvestia by the head of the self-proclaimed republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky.
According to him, residents of Transnistria are now facing a new problem. Recently, Russian authorities raised the state duty for obtaining Russian citizenship and renouncing it. From August 1, in consular offices outside the Russian Federation, it is necessary to pay 600 dollars instead of the previous 65 for submitting an application.

Currently, about 460 thousand people live in Transnistria. Of these, 220 thousand already have Russian citizenship.
