On the evening of July 21, a man received a call on Viber from an alleged postal employee, the Investigative Committee reports.
Under the guise of organizing a repeat delivery of a postal item from tax authorities, she tricked the man into providing a code from an SMS message.
Taking turns impersonating representatives of the National Bank, the Ministry of Communications, and a KGB officer, the scammers convinced the victim to collect all his savings, take out loans, and transfer all the money via a courier and a stash.
After each transfer, the victim was sent documents allegedly confirming the receipt of money for safekeeping at the National Bank.
When communication with the "curators" stopped, the victim examined the documents more carefully and, realizing the deception, contacted the police.
