Saudi Arabian Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud stated at a closed briefing in Washington on Friday that if US President Donald Trump does not follow through on his threats against Iran, the Iranian regime will become stronger, according to Axios sources who were present at the event.

As the publication notes, in public statements, Saudi Arabia warns against escalation in the region, and three weeks ago, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud shared his concerns with Trump. This warning was one of the reasons Trump decided to postpone the strike, Axios writes.

Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, the younger brother of the Crown Prince, arrived in Washington for meetings on Iran. On Thursday, he held a lengthy meeting at the White House with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth, Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine.

According to an Axios source, the main focus was on the possibility of an American strike on Iran. Although on Wednesday, in a phone conversation with the President of Iran, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia stated that the kingdom would not allow the US to use its airspace for an attack on Iran.

According to Axios, his brother said on Friday at a meeting with experts in Washington that, in his opinion, Trump would have to resort to military action after several weeks of threats, while trying to mitigate the risks of regional escalation.

Perhaps the Saudis decided that Trump had decided to strike and do not want to be perceived as opponents of this move, the publication suggests.
