Fico Ready to Replace Orban in Blocking €90 Billion for Ukraine if He Loses Elections
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that his country could block a European Union loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine. According to him, this could happen if the opposition wins the elections in Hungary and Viktor Orban's Fidesz party loses power, writes "European Truth".

Fico announced that he plans to discuss this issue during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Additionally, he wants to address the operation of the "Druzhba" oil pipeline. The Prime Minister noted that Slovakia is ready to assist if repairs or other technical work are needed on the Ukrainian section of the pipeline.
He also emphasized that the European Union loan for Ukraine effectively remains blocked.
According to him, the Ukrainian side expects to resume oil supplies in a month and a half — after the elections in Hungary, hoping for an opposition victory. In such a case, as Fico hinted, Slovakia could take Hungary's place and continue the blockade.
The Slovak Prime Minister believes that halting this funding could become a tool of pressure to achieve the resumption of oil supplies. He added that further decisions now depend on the European Union.
Fico requested a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which is expected to take place soon. Furthermore, he wants to coordinate the European Commission's position on the "Druzhba" oil pipeline before his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
