Lithuanians and Poles flocked to refuel in Belarus. Here's how much you can save
Due to the war in Iran, which caused an oil crisis, fuel prices in neighboring EU countries have skyrocketed. Diesel fuel has become particularly expensive.

Lithuania — already 2 euros per liter of diesel
Diesel in Lithuania already costs 2 euros per liter (about 6.72 rubles). In Belarus — 2.6 rubles, or about 80 euro cents at the current exchange rate. Thus, the difference per liter is 1.2 euros.
Because of this, trips for fuel from Lithuania to Belarus have become more profitable than before the oil crisis, when diesel fuel in Lithuania cost 1.5-1.6 euros per liter.
Roughly speaking, a Passat B4 owner with a 100-liter tank can fill up in Belarus for 80 euros instead of 200 euros in Lithuania.
But generally, such a volume is rare among passenger cars. Therefore, the discussion is usually about 60-90 liters.
In the case of an average 70-liter tank, the savings are about 85 euros.
However, this does not include the costs of paying the exit duty and registration in the electronic queue (around 70 rubles, or about 20 euros). Including insurance and travel costs, about 50-55 euros will remain from 85 euros.
But residents of border areas who still own a Passat B4 or Audi A6 C4 can save about 80-85 euros by refueling in Belarus.

For owners of gasoline cars, it is less profitable to travel from Lithuania to Belarus for fuel, as gasoline in Lithuania costs about 1.7 euros per liter.
However, if the car also has a gas installation, the overall savings will be more noticeable, as gas in Belarus also costs significantly less — about 40 euro cents compared to 0.75 euros in Lithuania.
What about Poland?
In Poland, fuel costs a little less than in Lithuania. A liter of diesel fuel there is about 8 zlotys (about 1.85 euros). So, the difference with Belarus is about 1-1.05 euros per liter.
But the smaller price difference is compensated by the fact that, unlike Lithuania, you can travel to Poland with an additional 10 liters of fuel in a canister.
Therefore, a Pole can also save more than a dozen euros by filling up a full tank in Belarus.
Moreover, in addition to fuel, you can legally bring one liter of strong alcohol and two packs of cigarettes from Belarus to Poland, which adds to the profitability of such a trip.
Trips for fuel to Belarus indeed attract interest from neighbors.
For example, a video is circulating on Instagram where a Pole, living 2 km from Belarus, brags about filling up his Audi for 3.2 zlotys per liter instead of 8 zlotys.
