Weather balloon with cigarettes landed in Lithuanian farmer's yard
During the night, a weather balloon carrying contraband landed in the yard of a resident of Žiežmariai, between Vilnius and Kaunas. Police officers arrived at the scene and found 1,500 packs of Belarusian cigarettes, reports LRT.

Kristina Miškauskaitė, representative of the Kaunas Chief Police Department, informed LRT that the report came in around one in the morning. A local resident reported that a contraband balloon had landed near his house.
“Upon arriving at the scene, police officers found three boxes containing 1,500 packs of cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps, as well as GPS devices,” said the police representative.
The Kaunas Fire and Rescue Department also reported the incident. The summary notes that firefighters were asked to help remove the balloon, which was stuck in a tree at a height of four meters.
