USA Officially Lifts Sanctions on Belaruskali, Belinvestbank, and the Ministry of Finance
On March 26, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the removal of Belaruskali and Belarusian Potash Company from its sanctions list. Sanctions were also lifted from the Ukrainian company Agrorozkvit, which was involved in trading Belarusian potash.

In addition, the USA issued a new license for conducting certain financial transactions with Belinvestbank and other organizations. A directive that previously restricted the operations of the Ministry of Finance of Belarus and the Development Bank, including transactions involving government debt and financial instruments, was also canceled. As noted, "the current situation no longer requires the maintenance of these prohibitions."
The U.S. Treasury Department emphasized that these changes are targeted and do not signify a complete revocation of sanctions against Belarus — restrictions on other companies, sectors, and individuals remain in effect.
An agreement on the lifting of these sanctions was reached during the visit of U.S. President's Special Representative John Kohle to Minsk on March 19. As part of the deal, Lukashenka agreed to release 250 political prisoners, 235 of whom were allowed to remain in their homeland.
