Two people died in a plane collision with a fire truck at a New York airport. The deceased were the first and second pilots of the plane.
In total, according to preliminary data, there were 72 passengers and four crew members on board the Air Canada aircraft. New York Airport was closed after the accident on the runway.
Late Sunday evening at LaGuardia Airport, an Air Canada Express plane collided during landing with an airport service vehicle that was moving on the taxiway.
The US Federal Aviation Administration immediately closed the airport for flights arriving from the US and Canada. The airport may remain closed until 6:00 PM local time today.
LaGuardia is primarily used for domestic flights within the US.
The aircraft collided with the vehicle at a speed of approximately 39 km/h. According to the ColLive portal, the collision occurred during a thunderstorm in the area.
