According to the Lithuanian serviceman, an internal combustion engine, used in some drones, has already been found at the scene, which gives reason to believe it was indeed a drone.
Information about the incident came from local residents: they heard a sound similar to a drone flying, followed by an explosion. A hole and debris resembling metal parts were found on the ice of Lake Lavysas. Police, rescuers, and special services immediately arrived at the scene. Some fragments have already been found, and the search continues for the remaining ones for further investigation.
In addition to the engine, metal and plastic parts were also found, but no traces of explosives have been discovered yet. It is not precisely known where this object came from, but it is not ruled out that it might have crossed the border from Belarus.
At the same time, Lithuanian army radars did not detect the object's flight, and border services also noticed nothing. All evidence is currently being collected, after which specialists will conduct an investigation to determine exactly what happened.
It is not yet known whether this object posed a danger, but the very fact of the explosion indicates that there could have been a threat. All conclusions, as reported, will be drawn after the investigation is completed.
