“The committee already has awards and certificates; this time, I wanted to give a gift from the bottom of my heart. Vycinanka is very symbolic for Belarus; it included our country in the UNESCO World Heritage list. I want to wish that our athletes continue to inscribe their names in the history of sports in golden letters,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, BelTA writes.
This year, the NOC turns 35, and the gift was timed to this date.
Viktor Lukashenka himself noted at the assembly that they managed to ensure the participation of athletes in major competitions.
“The ice has broken, we have ensured the full participation of our delegations in key international starts. Some of our representatives in winter sports have not only returned to the world arena but have also won licenses, representing the country at the Olympic Games in Italy. This success is a signal to further consolidate efforts in this direction. Our athletes are getting more and more access to world starts, and our task is to win at the international level, proving the strength of the Belarusian school of sport,” he said.
