In Belarus, the first period of active pollen spread this season, which can cause allergies, is beginning. According to observations, western winds have brought plant pollen into the country, and the most difficult situation is currently in the Grodno and Brest regions, reported the Grodno TV and Radio Company.
The main cause of spring allergies is birch, and in Grodno, magnolia has also joined it. Trees are starting to bloom en masse, so the amount of pollen in the air can quickly rise to a high level.
Doctors explain that pollinosis is a seasonal allergy when the immune system reacts to pollen as something dangerous. As a result, a person develops symptoms: watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and coughing.
Experts warn that such manifestations should not be ignored, as they can progress into more serious diseases, such as chronic allergic rhinitis or asthma.
Special tests or blood analysis are used to detect allergies. To alleviate the condition, doctors advise taking antihistamines, but only after consulting a specialist.
It is also noted that in June, allergies will be more frequently caused by cereal grasses such as timothy, and at the end of summer — other plants, for example, wormwood and lamb's quarters.
