At the age of 75, critic and literary scholar Anatol Verabei passed away. He was a researcher of Uladzimir Karatkevich's work.
Anatol Verabei was born on August 10, 1950, in the village of Vainilavichy, Mosty district, Grodno region, into a family of teachers. In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University.
He was a research fellow at the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences, and later at the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature. From 1990 to 2020, he worked as an associate professor at the Department of Belarusian Literature at Belarusian State University. He held a Ph.D. in Philology.
The literary scholar published books "Maksim Tank and Polish Literature" (1984), "Living Connection of Times; An Essay on the Work of Uladzimir Karatkevich" (1985), "Belarusian-Russian Poetic Mutual Translation of the 20s-30s" (1990), and the brochure "Poetry of Maksim Tank" (1983). He participated in the publication of collected works by Uladzimir Karatkevich and Pilip Piastrak.
