In Minsk, an unfinished apartment was rented out in literally half a day. But people are outraged
Minsk World is famous for frequently offering apartments with bare walls. The reasons for this can only be guessed at.
Recently, a young man named Tsikhan posted an ad on Threads for renting out an unfinished apartment. In Minsk World, of course. The one-bedroom apartment got a "makeover": a carpet was laid on the concrete floor, furniture was placed, and plumbing was installed in the bathroom. The owner asked for only $150 per month for this unadorned living space. Despite the reasonable price, commentators are still outraged, writes Onliner.by.
Minsk World is famous for frequently offering apartments with shell-and-core finishing. The reasons for this can only be guessed at. Perhaps the owners got into construction when the square meter was incredibly cheap, and after a jump in prices, including for renovation work, their finances ran out. Perhaps this is how they are saving up for renovations. Or perhaps the meters were bought as a very long-term investment, so there's no rush to put them in order, but it would be a shame to let them go to waste.

Judging by the photos, Tsikhan is the owner of a small apartment typical for this neighborhood. The room has electrical wiring, and plumbing is installed in the bathroom. A bed, table, and chairs have been brought in. Carpets, a bedside lamp on the nightstand, and a tea corner on the balcony are responsible for coziness.

The apartment is rented for $150 per month plus utilities – not that expensive in our reality. But this offer greatly outraged the commentators under the post. In a short time, they wrote more than 600 comments. Mostly people compete in wit.
“The photo shows a unique Belarusian high-tech style. More precisely, 'let it be so' (хай так),” believes Alena.
“If the carpet were on the wall, you could easily add another $50,” writes Dzmitry.
“But, probably, you can bring children and animals, or are you still afraid they'll spoil the renovation?” jokes Rehina.
“A designer loft in an elite area with fresh renovation and everything necessary for $150? You rushed it. Such places are rented for $400,” says Yauhen.

But there are also approving comments. Some believe that at the peak of rental prices in the capital, such an offer is great generosity.
“An honest, good offer for Minsk! I rent a similar apartment, only without a floor, shower, washing machine, furniture. In short, I took it completely bare. For an art studio, it's spacious, and there's no expensive renovation to spoil with experiments. And it's a brilliant option for a comfortable place for creative work. So, respect to those who offer such options. Many think too narrowly and don't know how to make something sweet for themselves from a blank slate,” argues Yulia.
“It's strange that someone is laughing. It seems to me that in Minsk, studios with decent renovation now start from $400 and up. An excellent option for a student, for example, who needs budget temporary housing. The conditions are more or less fine, and that's enough. It seems to me you already found a tenant in the first few hours,” ponders Viktoryia.

Literally half a day after placing the ad, the owner wrote an additional message:
“The apartment is rented! But I see you like it, so I won't remove the ad yet. This carpet has never heard so many compliments in its life. The tea set is shocked that it's being considered a Dyson. I don't want to interrupt this fun.”
