Whitkoff and Kushner didn't reach Islamabad. Trump explained why
US President Donald Trump explained why he canceled the trip of his representatives to Pakistani Islamabad for talks on Iran. According to him, the supposed visit of special envoy Steve Whitkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner was canceled after Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi refused to accept Washington's terms and left Pakistan, writes Reuters.

Trump sharply criticized the Iranian leadership, stating not for the first time that there is supposedly no unity and clear leadership in Iran. He emphasized that, in his opinion, the US is in a stronger position and "holds all the cards," while Iran is not. He also noted that if Tehran wants negotiations, it should initiate contact itself.
Tensions between the US and Iran escalated after airstrikes in the US and Israel in late February. In response, Iran struck Israeli and American targets and effectively restricted movement through the Strait of Hormuz — a key route for global oil supplies.
Although a ceasefire is currently in effect between the parties, there has been no significant progress in negotiations yet. Among other things, the situation is complicated by Iran demanding a cessation of Israeli strikes on Lebanon as a condition for further dialogue, to which Israel does not agree.
