The situation in the country remains tense.

Mali's Defense Minister Sadio Camara and part of his family were killed in a suicide bomber attack on his residence in the city of Kati, near the Malian capital Bamako. This happened on April 25, reports Le Figaro.
Camara was considered an important Russian ally.
Previously, the Malian Tuareg armed group Azawad Liberation Front reported that after battles against government troops, it managed to occupy most of the city of Kidal in the north of the country. Kidal was previously considered a rebel stronghold, but it had been taken under control by the Malian army before this.
The situation throughout the country remains tense. Intense skirmishes were ongoing in the city of Kati, where the residence of Mali's leader Assimi Goïta is located.
