Yesterday's strong hurricane-force wind in eastern Belarus, with gusts reaching 29 m/s, led to a number of damages and injuries to people, reported the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Within 24 hours, 16 settlements were affected. The most significant consequences were recorded in the Mogilev region, where the bad weather affected 11 settlements. Several more were affected in the Vitebsk, Gomel, and Minsk regions. The wind damaged roofs of residential buildings, social and industrial infrastructure buildings, as well as agricultural facilities.
49 cases of fallen trees were noted, with most of them in the Mogilev region. In some cases, trees fell on cars.
People were also affected. In Cherykau, a sheet of slate torn off by the wind injured a girl born in 2013. In the agro-town of Doŭsk, Rahačoŭ district, a tree fell near a car and injured a man born in 1966. Both required medical assistance.
Rescuers repeatedly responded to saw and clear fallen trees, as well as to eliminate dangerous damages. In some places, there were temporary power outages, which were quickly rectified.
Additionally, in the Mogilev region, a diesel train was delayed due to a tree that fell on the railway.
