"Already in pre-trial detention". The head of the farm was arrested for the terrible death of calves in the Gomel region
Under video cameras, the Chairman of the State Control Committee reported to Lukashenka on the arrest of the head of the farm where the calves died. The farm was not named.
As early as April 24, during a visit to the Mozyr district, Lukashenka showed Ivan Krupko, the Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, photos from the site of calf deaths in the Rogachev district. These materials were handed over to him by the State Control Committee.
“This is called horror. I understand that in some places they concentrate negativity. But this is more than a criminal case,” he stated then.
During a trip to the Petrikov district on April 26, Lukashenka returned to this topic: “A hectare of land, and dead calves are lying on the surface,” he recalled what he saw in the photos.
The Chairman of the State Control Committee reported that the head of the unnamed farm where the incident occurred had already been detained.
“Already in pre-trial detention,” reported Vasily Gerasimov.
“In pre-trial detention – he did the right thing. This is chaos. I wanted to show journalists just one photograph. They would lose consciousness, especially city dwellers,” added Lukashenka.
Lukashenka set the task to more actively develop meat animal husbandry and ensure strict control over the conditions of animal keeping.
“This needs to be developed more actively. If there is a market… And there will be,” Lukashenka said about raising beef cattle. “There will be demand.”
According to him, global demand for both food products and fertilizers is growing, and prices are rising along with it.
“Our time, in my opinion, is coming. And we didn’t invest in agriculture in vain,” he added.
