One of the oldest shoe factories in Belarus, "Nyoman" from Grodno, is on the verge of bankruptcy. The Economic Court of Grodno Region has already initiated bankruptcy proceedings for the enterprise.

The factory has been operating since 1939 and is primarily known for producing children's shoes. For many Belarusians, "Nyoman" is associated with classic children's sandals, which have been produced since Soviet times.
The enterprise filed the application with the court independently. A so-called protective period has now been introduced for the factory — a time when a special manager assesses whether solvency can be restored and bankruptcy avoided. Currently, this period is valid until June 1.
According to court data, the factory's overdue debt amounts to more than 4.2 million rubles. Of this, about 3.17 million are debts to creditors, and more than a million are loans and credits.
In addition, 54 enforcement proceedings have been opened against the enterprise. The total amount of claims under them exceeds 1.4 million rubles, and also includes debts in euros and Ukrainian hryvnias.
At the same time, the factory's property is estimated at approximately 14.1 million rubles. A significant part consists of finished products in warehouses. However, the enterprise has only about 22 thousand rubles left in free funds.
A preliminary rehabilitation plan — financial recovery — has already been prepared for "Nyoman". Earlier, the factory tried to stabilize the situation independently: it developed anti-crisis measures and wanted to reduce the debt burden by writing off fines and penalties, but this did not help.
Back in 2022, the factory was transferred under the management of "Belwest". At that time, modernization and increased production were planned. However, later financial difficulties arose for "Belwest" itself, where a rehabilitation procedure also began in 2026.
