Sabalenka recounts how she experienced Konstantin Koltsov's death two years ago
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Belarusian tennis player and world number one Aryna Sabalenka mentioned the situation from March 2024, when her ex-boyfriend, the famous Belarusian hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, allegedly committed suicide in Miami.

According to Sabalenka, she was on the practice courts in Miami during the tragedy. Police officers brought her the news, but she refused to believe it.
«I argued with the police officer — like, I couldn't accept it,» she recalls.
Afterward, to cope with what happened more easily, she tried to immerse herself in her game. Just a few days later, she started playing in the Miami tournament, but lost in the third round to Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, smashing her racket, scolding the umpire, and canceling her press conference.
To the haters who accused her of returning to the court too quickly, she responds.
«I don't know if there's any cliché about how you're supposed to grieve,» she says. «It seems to me that in this situation there is no right or wrong. We all need different things. For me, returning to work is the only way. I am 28 years old, but sometimes I feel like I've already experienced everything imaginable in my life.»
Konstantin Koltsov tragically died on March 18, 2024, in Miami. He fell from the balcony of the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort hotel. He was 42 years old.
