The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has permanently banned 42-year-old Czech specialist Petr Vlachovský from any football-related activity. Vlachovský previously coached the women's team of the "Slovácko" club and the country's junior national team. In addition, the organization appealed to FIFA with a request to extend this ban worldwide.

Until recently, Vlachovský had an almost impeccable reputation in the Czech Republic — he worked in women's football for about 15 years and was even recognized as the best women's coach in the country.

However, it was revealed that for four years, from 2019 to 2023, the man used a miniature camera hidden in his backpack to secretly film his players. Around 15 female footballers were affected, the youngest being 17 years old.

The crime came to light in September 2023 when police discovered recordings from the changing room online and arrested the coach.

For the team itself, this was a shock, as the girls only learned about the surveillance after their coach's arrest. The victims later admitted to Czech journalists that the nightmare they experienced left a severe psychological impact: many began to fear sleeping at night and faced constant anxiety in public places.

Court proceedings in this case lasted several years. Initially, the court ordered a small financial compensation to be paid to the victims, and in May 2025, a criminal court in the Czech Republic sentenced Vlachovský to one year of probation and banned him from working as a coach within the country for five years.

The international players' union FIFPRO deemed such a sentence too lenient and called for a full ban on the specialist, stating that even non-contact sexual violence remains violence that requires the strictest possible response.

UEFA's current decision should send a clear signal to the entire sports world that there is no place for indecent behavior and violence in football.
