Social media users are complaining about the shortage of litter bins on the streets of Minsk, saying that they used to be literally at every step. Now, finding them even in the city center has become a big problem.
"Where did the litter bins in Minsk disappear to? They used to be on every corner, literally in front of every establishment, two at every crossing. But now they are only near bus stops, and elsewhere — very rarely. Belarusians, of course, are decent and will carry their trash, but there is discomfort..." — shared a user with the nickname falometov.
The author of the post noted that they specifically studied the situation along both sides of Nezavisimosti Avenue and found practically nothing. Litter bins remained mainly near public transport stops.
Another commentator shared a story about how long they carried an empty coffee cup in their hands after leaving the subway near the train station. There were bins for smokers, but they had no openings for regular trash. The only proper litter bin was found only beside the Galileo shopping mall.
Other users noticed that the problem didn't appear yesterday, but about 5 years ago. Young parents recall that during walks with strollers, it was impossible to dispose of a banana peel or a used napkin — they had to walk half a block to the nearest store or shopping center, because bins near traffic lights and crossings had already been removed back then.
The general conclusion is that the situation has significantly worsened, and although Belarusians are by nature tidy and carry their trash with them, this creates serious discomfort in the city.
However, "Gorremautodor" (City Road and Bridge Maintenance) disagreed with the criticism and stated to "Minsk-News" that people only imagine there are few bins — they claim the number of bins located on the streets of Minsk has not decreased in the last five years.

Meanwhile, the Rules for the Improvement and Maintenance of the City provide for the installation of litter bins "at the entrances to administrative and public buildings, trade facilities, public catering, household services for the population, near other socially significant objects, in guest parking lots along the street and road network, in parks and squares." Bins are also located at all public transport stops in the city.
