Jill Biden said that during the disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump, it seemed to her as if her husband, President Joe Biden, had a stroke right on stage, reports the BBC.
“I don't know what happened,” Jill Biden said in an interview with CBS News. “When I looked at him, I had the thought: ‘My God, he's having a stroke.’ It scared me to death.”
“I was scared because I had never seen Joe like that before — and never since. Never,” she said.
However, one of the co-authors of a book about Joe Biden's presidency, Axios correspondent Alex Thompson, said in an interview with CNN that, unlike the former first lady, everyone else — his advisers, fellow party members, and commentators — had seen similar lapses in Biden's awareness on multiple occasions.
“Such moments became very difficult to predict, and the White House diligently tried to do something about it and keep them out of the public eye, but ultimately during the debate, they could no longer hide these moments from the public,” Thompson explained.
The book about the 46th President of the USA, Joe Biden, is titled “Original Sin.” It was co-authored with CNN journalist Jake Tapper and was published in May 2025.
After a very unsuccessful performance in the debate against Republican candidate Donald Trump, Joe Biden faced strong pressure from fellow party members who demanded that he withdraw from the election.
As a result, Biden withdrew his candidacy and endorsed the then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
